| CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR GREEN TECHNOLOGIES AT KUMASI TECHNICAL INSTITUTE - GROUNDBREAKING

The journey toward a more sustainable and technologically advanced future for Ghana’s technical and vocational education reached an important milestone this week with the official ground breaking of Component 1 of the Centre of Excellence for Green Technologies at the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI).

The ceremony attracted high-level national and international attention, underscoring the significance of the project. Distinguished guests included His Excellency Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Honourable Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu (MP), and the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene. Also in attendance were key representatives from the Ministry of Finance, KfW, GIZ, and the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET).

A Strategic Investment in Sustainable Skills Development

The Centre of Excellence for Green Technologies forms part of a broader initiative aimed at modernizing Ghana’s TVET infrastructure while integrating sustainable, energy-efficient solutions into technical training. The facility will serve as a hub for innovation, hands-on learning, and research in environmentally responsible technologies.

By establishing a dedicated training centre focused on climate-smart technologies, the project supports Ghana’s broader goals of environmental stewardship, youth empowerment, and skills development for emerging industries.
